Hear Us, Hear Them announces third season, Resounding Peace

Hear Us, Hear Them announces their third season, Resounding Peace. The program will see three concerts, including a collaboration with The May Festival for their 25 for 25: A New Time for Choral Music concert on March 19. The group will join the Church of Our Saviour Concert Series on March 25, and present their spring concert entitled Resounding Peace in April.

“Every season feels like a celebration at this point,” said co-founder and executive director Jaime Sharp. “We are overwhelmed and grateful to the community for allowing us to cultivate a project like this. It is a needed continuation towards the effort for diversifying the choral repertoire.”

In tangent with these performances, the group will premiere three works. Returning for her second collaboration, composer Danielle Olana Jagelski partners with Cincinnati Poet Laureate Yalie Kamara. For The May Festival’s 25 for 25 project, the group has been partnered with 17-year old rachel mugemancuro, an alum of the LA Phil’s Composer Fellowship Program. Finally, on his journey to reach 100 spiritual arrangements, the ensemble premieres a new piece from the legendary Stacey V. Gibbs.

“Following the uncertainty, loss, and turmoil that we all have experienced in the past few years, Hear Us, Hear Them hopes to help our community move forward. We chose to center this year's program on reconciliation, comfort, and triumph through adversity,” said co-founder and artistic director Harry Mathurin-Cecil. Engaging with composers who explored these themes each in uniquely individual ways will make our 2023 concert rich, meaningful, and full of unique sounds, styles, and expressions.”

The season is sponsored by individual donations and grant awards from CCM Power, ArtsWave, and the Ohio Arts Council.
